Bring In 2021

We begin 2021 deeply affected by the past.

Here you will have a chance to acknowledge a beginning after a time of anxiety, isolation, and distress - as well as new trust, deepening community, and genuine hope.

We begin 2021 leaning into all our learnings and transformations.

"Last Day of December"

Click the play button below to listen to Randy's original song, "Last Day of December." The beauty of his Blues song is that in the background there is the hope for renewal and relationship.
On the Last Day of December
by Randy Lynn Mitchell
Picture
On the last day of December
I was searching for someone I knew
And the last thing I remember
I found myself without you

All the side streets down in Denver
They were snow packed and waiting for more
And I dented my front fender
As my car skidded by your front door

I don’t know why you chose to leave
What will I miss, who will I kiss New Year’s Eve

As the city came together
To drink in the midnight countdown
I could forecast my own weather
As teardrops and snowflakes came down

On the first day of the new year
I’m still searching for someone I knew
My resolutions is just having you here
I can’t find myself without you

Should old acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind...

Resolution Contemplation

A brief internet search reveals that 80% of New Year resolutions fail by the second week of February! Our new year goals fail because they are not realistic, do not include a plan, and are generally repetitions of the same old thing, rather than trying something new.

Ponder making a New Year resolution that introduces something new into your life. What are the steps necessary to bring this goal about? How can you ground your resolution in something that you can achieve?

Rev. Matthew would like to know what you have resolved for 2021 - and he wants to help you realize it. After contemplating a resolution, fill out the form below and press the "send" button. Rev. Matthew will receive all the resolutions, and will contact you during the first week of February to see how you are doing and encourage you to keep going!

Ring in the New Year

Promising New Year
A sad, awakened song begins

because of the truth

-Rev. Matthew
When you are ready to ring in 2021, click the play button below. You will hear the skillful sounding of a Buddhist singing bowl, like the one we have in our sanctuary. Breathe as you hear the sound of the bowl singing over you.
Breathe with each of the waves of sound knowing that as you do you may begin 2021 with all you need.
